After selling Beaver's Wings the girlfriend and I put most of the money into Canadian dollars -- I'm loving this.

I don't send money home.

Secretly I'm hoping the exchange rate tanks and people don't want to come here...better for me.

Go up past 2000 won I hope.

Wasn't 2 million won around 2600CDN a few years ago? Now closer to 2000CDN. Quite a dip. But you could say you are sending STRONGER dollars home if that's any consolation. Wink

The won seems to go up against the $CAD every fall and then drop in the spring.

to the OP- change your bank. Confused

I wired cash home on Wednesday at 907W=1CAD, ten points above what it was trading according to www.xe.com. Just checked the site again and the rate has dropped a little.

Would I be correct in thinking that if I change won into U.S. dollars, bring that back to Canada, then change the U.S. dollars into Canadian dollars I'd be ahead? Sounds like it.

Sorry Capt K:

If such an arbitrage situation lasted for more than 1 second, many people at the major banks/trading firms are not doing their jobs Wink

I have an American Dollar account at TD and if I wanted to wire money directly into that account from here, they'd first exchange it into Canadian Dollars and THEN into Yankee Greenback... it is a bit of a shame..

But if you had an American $ Account at a Canuck bank and then brought American Traveller's checks/cheques to the bank to deposit.. hmmm I wonder...
