Hello all ...mostly in Daegu...
I've been in Daegu for two months now..teaching at a Hagwan...where I am the only "foreigner"..that's in quotations b.c I'm a Gyopo....BUT STILL a foreigner...To the point...Where can I go to meet some foreigners?!?
I find myself drained from struggling with my Korean all day long that by the end of the day......I'm pooped and would love to meet people who are in my shoes....Can anyone suggest a aplce to go here in Daegu?
Thanks..Jenny |

Hey Jenny...
i know you!...and you know me.
we live an hour away from each other, but still in Daegu.
weekdays are very slow in town. there realy isn't a 'place' that foreigners get together in large groups.
but weekends there are great places to hang:
PUBS:
Commune...it's relatively behind Samduk fire station. very small basment pub
Itaewon Crew...near just off DongSungRo. go around the corner where you see that clothing store with the BIG teddy bear in the window.
...next to the swanky french restaurant 'Dijon'
DJ Bars:
Bubble Bar: on 'Rodeo Street', the street with all the women's boutiques.
The Box: a few doors down from Bubble Bar.
Gypsy Rock: i suggest you over look it. it is full of no-mind gi's and wannabe korean 'clubbers'. the owner charges ridiculous cover and dilutes the alcohol. he's well know to be a *beep*. the music is cheesy overplayed hiphop mixed in with cheesy electronic music. the sound system must be 20years old. the same 4 hour music set is repeated throughout the night.
I'm not much of a social butterfly, but i do hit one of those places every weekend. i would be more than happy to introduce you to some people.
PM me if you want to come along this weekend.
if you still don't know who i am, ask one of the guys you know in Hayang. |

One of the best place is Beer World on Friday night. It is in Siji across from Wal-Mart. Alot of foreign teachers hang out there. Some times it's packed, other weeks there maybe only half a dozen foreign teachers. You really never can tell.
Most people tend to show up late around 11pm. I wouldn't recommend getting there any time before 10:30pm. You'll probably find an empty bar with a few Koreans.
I live about a 15 min bus ride from there. Every once in awhile I go and have a beer there, but I'm not wild about drinking. |
