Three-year university contract limit – want to exchange position with someone in similar circumstances: NEXT contract cycle.

Just thinking ahead . . .

Im interested in exchanging my lecture professor position with someone in a similar position at a university with a three-year limit.

I work at a good school and they will be glad to have me back after being gone for a year or two or three. The departments admin wants only to keep the big admin guys further up the food chain happy – and has, in the past rehired past instructors. The school pays by years of experience – so most people in similar jobs would not likely take a big pay cut.

My university does not like to do interviews and if I were to introduce them to a good candidate – they would most likely hire that person – with very little fuss. The goal would be to introduce each other – and perhaps (who knows whatll happen in 2-3 or more years) re-introduce each other in a few years and go back where we were. And, maybe stay on the merry-go-round for a long time.

Im not out to change the world, debate the system, fight the man or another such baloney. Just want to enjoy work, have long vacations, sack away some bucks, and maybe work out a system with another teacher that would work for both of us.

The position I am in is for 12 hours a week, two-sixteen week semesters a year, no summer camps or hogwan classes, typically no night classes. Overtime (usually only four hours) is at a measly W15,000 an hour. No silly meetings. One mandatory lunch with the department every couple years. Pretty much – they just leave you alone and expect you to do the job.

The university is not in Seoul, but within a couple hours bus ride. Housing is modest but fine – smallish two-bedroom apt. Not shared. Private office with computer, printer, internet.

I like this university, they have treated me very well.

My exchange partner would need a few years university experience under their belt, a masters degree (preferably in English or Education). The university, would, of course, prefer someone who goes about the job quietly, doesnt have sex with the students, gets the job done, and is 100% reliable. I would prefer that too, as your selection will reflect on me – and affect my future rehiring. As mine would affect yours.

I am interested ONLY in positions that have similar time off, hours, and wage benefits. Not interested in teaching kindy on Saturdays!

If this idea interests you – send me a PM please. Confidentiality of the utmost importance for both of us – lets see what we might work out.

As stated earlier – I dont wish to debate the process – just to find a partner who is willing to work the system to our advantage.

A smart partner would research my past postings to see if I was a person of consistency and reason. As I will/would yours.
