Hi,

So I'm returning to Korea to teach again and am looking at different recruiters gathered from University job boards and recommendations on various message boards. These one's seem relatively okay. I don't get that "we're gonna screw you big time" vibe that some of them give off:

----------------
Asia-Pacific Connections, Ltd.
http://www.asia-pacific-connections.com

ATC Avail Teachers Consulting
www.atcjob.com

CWS (Canadians With Seoul)
www.canadianswithseoul.com

Longbridge Pacific
http://www.longbridgepacific.com

CK Teachers Abroad, Ltd.
http://www.ckteachers.com

Footprints Recruiting Incorporated
http://www.footprintsrecruiting.com

Morning Calm Recruiting
www.morning-calm.net

RUSSELL RECRUITING/ASIAN GATEWAY
http://www.russellrecruiting.com

teachkorea-USA Ltd
www.teachkoreanz.com
--------------

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with these groups, or heard any good or bad things? Any of them I should definitely stay away from, or definitely hook up with?

I had a great experience with Kristopher Kinch at Asia-Pacific Connections. His web site is full of good information about Korea, and the whole placement went very smoothly. His operation is small, and he seems to have high standards for the schools he places with. One thing to know is that all of his schools are hakwans that do a kindy program...but the school I am with has been stellar, no complaints whatsoever. In any case, you will be interviewed by the school, rather than simply "sold" to the school based on your picture only.

My advice is to fill out the online form, be sure to e-mail a recent photo and resume, and then call Kris a few days later. If you are serious about going to Korea, and demonstrate this by doing what is required, and being somewhat flexible about your placement, then there is a good chance he can place you. He will encourage you to do research about the schools he hooks you up with, and can give you advice about the interview with the school. (hint: ask questions about the curriculum, students, discipline methods, and such...save your questions about housing etc. for the foreign teachers at the school, you will get a chance to contact them if you are offered a contract.)

Good Luck!

I had a good experience with Natalia kim from morning calm. She returned my e-mails, frequently with a telephone call. Gave me all the information I wanted, and her english was excellent. Oh And I am really happy with my job.

I had mixed feelings about Mr Krinch. I will say in his defence that he was honest and very helpful when I contacted him outside of the country. When I got here though, I didn't hear a word from him and he kept falling back on the excuse that non-North Americans are virtually unhirable in the current market. Anyhow, I am back and have a brilliant government job, so I didn't need his (lack of) service anyhow.

Cheers

Jaga
