I've got a couple budding American comic fan bois in my advanced classes. It's one of the things that really drives them to learn English. It's a nice change from "because mom makes me". Sometimes I'd pick them up comic books when I went trolling Itaewon for used books. They started to hound their parents to take them there to buy their own. Eventually I got my boss to contact their parents and let them know I'd be happy to take them there some sunday. I've got a lot of free time. The parents quickly jumped on the offer.
After they loaded up on some comics, I bought them lunch at that taco stand at Noksapeyong or whatever. Curiously they liked mexican food as much as my own nephew at that age. They didn't They kept pulling things out of their tacos going "teacher! yeopgi!"
To complete the multii-cultural experience, I took them to Starbucks for hot chocolate.
