My favorite p2p, e-donkey, won't work with the LAN in my new building.
Status: Unreachable.
Any ideas?
Kazaa works fine though.... |

Sorry eamo....this one crept past me. Check your IP. Go into "Control panel", "Network Connections", double click the connection at the top of the window, and look at the top tab called "support" (I think)
Here you can see your gateway and your I.P address.
Go into the options menu in Edonkey, and check the "netork" tab (I think....I am not in front of my computer) Anyways, there is a place where it says "Force IP ___.___.__.____" You need to be sure your IP is in this field. Enter it if it's not.
I installed Edonkey at school, and it's really, really slow. Says "connecting" for a long time, and seems to be having all kinds of troubles.
Do you run a firewall? If so, you need to configure the firewall to let Edonkey in and out. Windows firewall (SP2) needs the same attention. You can also see what ports it's using in the Edonkey options menu, and again, from the control panel, can be sure to open those ports for it.
A friend of mine had the same trouble with his new LAN connection (KT)...he called them and they replaced a faulty modem....now he downloads fine. Maybe you have a bad modem.
Did you check the FAQ?
http://www.edonkey2000.com/documentation/unreachable.html
That's all I can think of for now....will post back later if I have anymore ideas. Hope it helps. Personally, I have found the donkey to be a bit buggy. I uninstall/reinstall it every couple of weeks... |

I had this issue at home. If you can't make it work Demo's way, you might want to download Shareaza and see if you can connect to the eDonkey network through that. Worked for me.
I did have to forward ports for my Norton firewall though... presuming you know how to do this... |

I use the XP firewall and I know how to open ports on that so I shouls be alright.
Does shareazaa work like Kazaa?
I've tried all the p2p's out there and only e-donkey so far has the rare TV shows I like to watch (British sit-coms and documentaries). |
