First and foremost-this is not something I am interested in doing, or want to done for me. This is just something that I have wondered about for a while.

Back home, in N. America, there has arisen a new kind of underground retirement bonus in "high paying low skill jobs". Particular, these are currently jobs in the Hospitality industry mainly, but it is also spreading to low level internship positions, etc....

I used to work at a fancy-dancy restaraunt as a server. Big money game, but the work was only seasonal- 4-5 months of hard work, and you could live a decent lifestyle for the rest of the year. Now, with jobs like this, there was always LOW turnover-maybe one new staff a year. Servers who left often went on to more grown up pursuits. Now, alot of times, these departing servers provided their own replacement. The new server had to meet a minimum criteria, but after that he/she was in on the say so of the person on the way out.
Of course, what ended up happening was people ended up "selling" their jobs to their friends, or others they new. Nothing formal, but the guy who left the same summer as myself was given $500 by his replacement to get him in there.
Even more extreme examples I have heard of is Cocktail waitresses in Vegas, who sell their position for a few thousand on exit.
Management turned a blind eye, because recruitment was being done for them. If they didnt qualify, they weren't hired...but the truth is there are always more qualified people available than jobs.

So why hasn't this happened yet in Korea? Or has it, and I am just not aware. Again, I am not promoting this as a way to go-but the fact is that there are FAR more people here "qualified" than there are good jobs. So why aren't there underground offers for Uni gigs, or public school jobs yet? Or is there, and this is just SO underground, I've never heard of it?

CC

PS. Have I mentioned I am leaving my public school job this year? 4 months of vacation.... Laughing
JK

I know some people who sold privates on their way out.
Not a bad deal. Old guy makes a little cash, new guy gets instant students without having to network, student doesn't need to go to the hassle of finding a new teacher.

That's me. I've found 3 new teachers for my school (of my own initiative--boss didn't ask), plus myself.

Wish I'd pulled in a couple hundred or more. I know he paid for a recruiter before I came. lol.
