Ever notice the similarities between these two songs?

I find it interesting that there could be so many common points between two songs from two cultures which at the time had little or no contact with each other.
Specifically:
1. The format is the same: Each line begins with a repeated appelation followed by a command.
2. The rhythm of the repeated appelation is the same.
2. Some of the commands are the same: turn around, show your shoe, touch the ground, say goodby/ good night.
Of these commands, "turn around" is the the first command, and naturally, "say goodby/goodnight" is the last command.
Here are possible explanations:
1. They are both jumprope songs.
2. "turn around" is the simplest command.
3. In a world millions of years old and billions of people, coincidences are sure to happen.
If you can find any more similarities, come up with any more explanations, or give an example from a third culture. please write back. |
