These six graders are enjoying their last few weeks of freedom before they start middle school and thier lives basically suck until they hit college.

I had a class like that recently. Decided that it was going to stop. At the beginning of class, I explained that they are being very rude particularly the students at the back. Told them that their behavior would not be tolerated by a Korean teacher and neither would I. If they were going to misbehave, they would be sitting outside the classroom for 2 weeks. No exceptions. Then I opened the windows all class. Haven't had a problem for 3-4 weeks now. Sure they might get a little noisy, but when teacher tells them to be quiet, they are fine.

Sometimes you just have to set them straight. I imagine that the Elementary teachers would have more problems since they have no exams or anything to look forward to.

Grotto, if that's the worst thing you've ever done, you're a saint compared to many of the rest of us.

Have you guys tried changing the seating plan?
Works wonders for me...they hate it and complain but after a few minutes the entire dynamic of the class changes...

Mind you that won't help Grotto with his 7 foot monster....
(hehe...Grotto...good opening line for the ladies maybe...wanna here about my 7 foot monster? Wink )

I worked the public schools in Hsinchu, Taiwan, riding a motorbike to different public schools when f-teachers called in sick, like Batman. The program by the end of the semester was talking about dropping the grade 5 and sixes. Just 1-4 grade.
One school was towards the sea, a lot of the kids were sons and daughters of fishermen, and that class was something else. Rowdy and rough in a loud, good humoured way most of the time. The cool thing was getting to it passed by the military airfield where the Mirage 2000 jet fighters circulated from. Hsinchu is right on the north end, on the coast facing China.
