After my one year in Daegu, I will be bringing home a little more than just the I money I have saved. We went to Seoul together, signed all the paper and received a marriage certificate. What is the next step in order for her to become a Canadian? What will her visa status be when we enter Canada? Is it okay for her to just buy a one-way ticket to Canada?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! |

What's next?
At this point, you're supposed to start treating her like trash, take up smoking, get drunk every night, oogle college girls, and hit the room salons with your buddies.
In the meantime, she can go out and bang whomever she meets, playing the innocent and oppressed Korean female. |

My husband and I did the same thing a few weeks ago....all the paperwork is done....we just have to have the ceremony. As far as I know your next step is to apply to sponsor your wife.....according to the info package(you can get one on the internet or go to the Canadian embassy, I went there to ask some questions but the girl doesn't know aynthing about immigration she said the best thing to do is fax the questions). To "apply" to be her sponsor you have to pay $75CAD.....she has to apply for "permanent residence"$475CAD. At the end of the process, after approval there will be another fee "right of permanent residence" $975CAD. After she has been in Canada as a permanent resident for 3 years she can then apply (if she wants to) for Canadian citizenship. I think there is a Canadian history test or something. My husband and I will be starting the process around January....if you start it from Korea your wife can't go to Canada until it is approved...I think this is a general rule....maybe there are special exceptions..? Maybe if you start the process in Canada she can't leave Canada until it is approved..? Like I said, we will be starting everything in January...If there is anything unexpected I will post something about it.....oh, what province are you planning on going to? I do know that Quebec kind of has its own rules....in the previous year you need to have made a certain amount of money to prove that you can support her while she is in Canada. |
