Hello, all-
This is technically job-related, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic over on that board (no one has posted for over a month). So, I'll ask here...
As I've written before, I'm a grad student in the U.S. studying Korea and anthropology. I am hoping to be able to renew my fellowship so I can study third-year Korean language in Korea this coming summer (fingers crossed). I will either study at SNU (early July till Aug. 12) or Yonsei (late July till September). I prefer SNU's program, and I would also rather be free to explore Korea a bit in August and September (my school in the U.S. is on quarters and doesn't start back up again until late Sept.).
I would definitely like to travel once my academic program is over (am even considering a North Korea tour), but am also starting think about money. The fellowship I have now is great, but while it allows me to live in a grad student-y kind of way, I don't really save anything. So I started thinking about Korean summer camps where I could make a few million won. Do any of them run the second part of August/early September or is that too late? Also, what are some good ones? I would love to teach at that new English Village that opened up, the English immersion camp (I believe somewhere in Seoul). I have also heard some positive things about FT Union (strange name for a summer camp) and KBD/iMAT. Or any university summer programs. I don't have a TESOL cert., but have a year of experience teaching in Japan and one in the U.S. public school system (as an assistant for an ESL program, working with Korean kids).
I have also considered going to Taiwan for a camp once I'm done studying in Korea (the American Language Village), and have seen some interesting-looking programs in China.
Good experiences? Bad experiences?
Thanks!
