Would I still be able to bank some whopping figures if I took a full-time uni-gig? I enjoy the part-time and privates because of the money, but if I got a job working at a university, how much time would that take up and would I have time for privates that would still roll me in at around 6.5-7.0 per month?

Thanks,

-Kid

"I started this thread to boast about how much money I make"

Isnt that the truth? You can make that doing any job. So you could also do it at a uni. Just get a ton of privates.

But you already knew that, and just wanted to boast.

Bro, who cares what kiddirts is making?...it's an anonymous name on an "English as a second language" message board...I'm just trying to weigh the opportunity cost and get feedback on whether it's worth it. Thanks for your advice...

The Uni Job takes up too much time from the extra work. Yet if you are able to juggle your schedule then you can still back some pretty good coin. Most of the profs I know teach about 12 hours extra on the side, not too heavy. One could manage 30 extra classes a week but it will wear you out after a while. Good Luck

Do uni hours tend to be in the morning/evening, blocked or what? I'd hate to keep shooting back to the university all day for a class here and a class there...but teaching at a uni would be something different...kinda down for that.

Thanks...

No in blocks. Different days different times. Some mornings, some nights.

Take care to make sure that you remain anonymous....I was warned before I came here not to teach privates OR if I did to keep everything to myself. A lady I know told me about a couple who were pulling in a huge amount of money here....but once they told a few people....immigration soon paid them a visit. I guess they aren't sure if it was another teacher who was jealous or maybe a korean citizen (although I hear this is unlikely)...anyway my point is....good for you if you can bank as much as possible....but be careful not to let anyone find out...better safe than sorry...Smile

Why would you ask a bunch of strangers for advice on your work decision?

Plus a University job will require some commitment on your part as far as work time and professionalism. It will be more than having to shoot back and forth to the uni only for a class here and there..... Laughing

Also, weren't you supposed to be in Japan?
