I'll be frank. I've heard a lot of really horrible pop music in the 3.5 weeks I've been here. So far I truly like only one song currently in rotation on the airwaves... "Ha Ha Ha Song" by Jaurim. That one wins by a mile.

Are there any pop-meisters out there who can tell me if Jaurim album #5--the home of this cut--is worth buying? I've been looking for samples of the other tracks online but haven't found anything....

In closing, I'd just like to say that although mainstream Korean pop music is among the ghastliest I've heard, I know there must be diamonds in the waste. Where will I find the audacious brilliance that pays back all the utter schlock? Mark my words, I am prepared to open my mind--not to mention a lot of other things--to Korean music if it's willing to provide the eargasms I'm convinced I deserve.

Yeah, I have their new album All You Need Is Love, and it has a lot of pretty strong tracks. It's catchy, too, so it's great for studying Korean, too.

I have their fourth album and it was pretty good. I didnt know they had a fifth because being in your mid thirties means you watching music video channels is lame. Maybe I'll go pick it up.

As for this:

Korean folks tend to like light entertainment, and you most likely wont be hearing the latest in whatever genre you like from back home. Accept it and move on because it's not really worth caring about.

Their 4th album was their weakest effort (relatively) so if you like that you'll definately like the 5th. Their 2nd and 3rd were the best though.
