I've been ringing around in Korea looking for a job.
I'm still in NZ and I can't speak Korean so I am surprised at how easy it has been. When the people I'm ringing in Korea answer the phone I hear them say something sounding like "something-something-im-ni-da". I got the im-ni-da bit, I think it's some kind of verbal particle for the 1st person, but what is the something-something? and how do I respond before launching into my bright and clear "hello my name is jinks"?
I can't produce Korean characters here, but I can put in a workmanlike job of reading them (thanks lonely planet), so don't hold back if you can show me what I'm hearing.
cheers!

They are saying the name of the company/business/school. Imnida means it is, or this is. So, for example, if the school name is SOL, they are saying, "SOL imnida." Usually, they will say, "khamsahamnida, SOL imnida." Which means, Thank you, this is SOL.

It's a Korean curse on you and your family. You're all going to die.

OMG! However: see my name? I can fling it right back with mischief galore. Unfortunately, I am only able to use my amazing powers for "good".
