|
|
I'm going into Seoul next week. If I walk into Yongsan with my XBOX in tow, will I eventually find someone who can mod it for me? I can't speak any Korean...
What's it cost to get it done these days... about $100 judging from previous posts?
I read some directions in the QA Forum but wondered if anyone knew of any other place... maybe that's not so ghetto?
Not tech, but if I wander around the Yongsan area I also assume I can find some hotel for like W70,000 for a night? Not love motels... |

In Yongsan most of the gaming stuff is in the basement level of the building next to E-Land (big white building). The one you want is towards Yongsan station from E-land. The basement level is accessible from both inside and outside of the building. Look for a set of stairs heading down from either end of the building. There are two "hallways" (for lack of a better term" that run the length of the building. One is full of cellphone shops and the other is for games.
Most any of the dealers can fit you with a chip (and a bigger hard drive if you want one - you'll want one). I recommend a guy whose booth is called "Trader." He's always been great to deal with and speaks a little bit of English. |

Thanks Walter. For those interested, mod chip installed W40,000 and 120gb hdd W90,000... make sure whoever you deal with, don't spend much more than that! If you bring a game you own in, they'll help you with making a backup of it for W10,000 onto DVDR.
Edited for interest: Just for the hell of it I asked the video game store above ground of the same building if he did mod chipping, he chuckled and said no. Nice guy that spoke English though... and the store had like 5 employees, not sure why for such a smallish store.
Also, it seems like the whole area closes at like 8pm... for some reason I just assumed it be open til whenever they felt like closing. |

| This was kinda mentioned before I think, but does the chip let you play DVDs from other regions? |

Not directly. But if you get an Xbox chipped in Yongsan they'll load up the drive with programs and emulators. One of the programs is DVD RegionX, which functions as an all-region DVD player. The only drawback with it is that it doesn't work with the remote, so you've got to use the controller to operate all the playback functions. |

I hope the people I am dealing with load it up with programs... I didn't even think they'd do that. I guess I can ask him to show me the XBOX starting up... will edit in the future with how it goes.
Edit: They did indeed load it up with a bunch of stuff. It's the win. |
