hi there

well im 9 months in, things are okay i guess. have actually had cool times here and am trying to be positive. had a wicked 4 month relationship with a k girl which looks like it may of ended and am feeling a bit down but you know how in a foreign country its almost like things seem more difficult. we always talk about being positive here. i remember a cool thread about being positive in korea. just wondered if anyone could pass it on

We decided to start hating the positive thread! Wink

Y'know. What foreigners like about Korea we come to accept as nice aspects of our lives. It seems strange to me to go on a message board to talk about nice aspects of our lives to people who are very aware of these things themselves.

"Don't you think Galbi restaurants rock?"

"Sure Eamo, we know they rock..."

It's much more pertinent to talk over the things we are still trying to accept or wrap our heads round.

Korea has negatives! Lets talk about them!! Then maybe someone can explain to us why this country/people are like that. Thereby gaining a fuller understanding of Korea and enriching our time here.

"Let's be positive because it's nicer than being negative", is way too easy a way out. Face the harshness!!!

Come on, eamo! I think the OP just said his relationship ended...he could probably use some words of encouragement that don't sound too hollow right about now.

Hey Phil, try this:

Yeah...Guess I wasn't actually responding to the OP. More just addressing the idea that we shouldn't discuss negative aspects of Korea because it makes us look like whiners.

My response to the OP is to hook up with another girl ASAP!!!

Yes. And, the little signs telling Americans to stay out are like little rocks thrown at your head.

For instance, I have been turned away by galbi restaurant owners at the door. "No miguk (America)!" they say.

lmfao.
Anyways, there are plenty of positives here for me but I've only been here a month so there whole "hey wow cool" thing hasn't worn off yet.

Having the ability to travel to and work in a pretty developed country is alright in my book.

CANADIAN TIRE MONEY

Aw. I don't often get nostalgic, but very few things in life give me the warm pleasant feeling of Canadian Tire(A lot more than just tires by the way). Well oral sex for Canadian tire money is right up there.
