What's up with Kangsan Travel?
They still haven't given me an official price or ticket for my flight on Jan 10th......but I HAVE reserved the seat apparently with no deposit. |

How can they give you a ticket before you buy one? Go there and give them some money, they'll give you a ticket. Don't forget to breathe in and out on the way there and back. |

They don't want any money yet, thats my issue....they don't know the "real" price yet from the airline....they gave me an approx. price 2 months ago, and have told me to keep waiting..... |

Typical for travel in Korea. No one knows the prices until just about the time you need to go. Always annoying..
But 2 weeks.. never quite had anywhere cut it quite that short.. usually about 4 weeks before it seems. |

You only have one option. Secure a 45 caliber revolver that looks a little like a canon. Walk into the store, fire one shot through the ceiling and then aim the gun at the manager and yell 'I LIKE CHICKEN BUT I DONT LIKE SQUID!!!!' as loud as you can. Hell think youre holding the place up so he might piss himself, but dont let this break youre nerve. Demand he take youre money. Stuff it into his pockets. He will try to give it back...he will be very confused. Dont let him. Once he takes youre money, youre set. Youre plane ticket will come in three to five buisness days and youll be off. Have a fun trip! |

I have already thought about this, the travel agent is too far away unfortunately.
Thanks for the idea though. |

When is everyone going to learn about the horror stories they always hear? Go to another travel agent and get a ticket. Tell them you will not do business with them until you get a price and are able to have a ticket in your hand once you paid--although it might take two days to get the paper ticket in your hand.
If the seats sell out to groups, which is what they are trying to do, you are going to be SOL The site I always use is on daum's main page. It is in Korean, but have a Korean person give you a hand getting a ticket (if you are savvy enough, you should be able to get around the site even though you don't speak the language)
No ticket, no payment= nothing you can do when they tell you sorry no seats or an outrageous price (as you already have your trip planned). |

One of my friends was told the ticket would be delivered to him AT the airport. Sure enough, while the other passengers were filing on, here came the agent running down the corridor ticket in hand, while my friend was sweating bullets. |

Where are you going? I realized that contacting Singapore Airlines directly can usually get me cheap tickets....cheaper than what the travel agents offer, since they're usually positive that no one will want to fly Singapore Airlines, only Korean Air and Asiana...
I would try checking the airlines' websites...
or don't use a travel agent that caters mainly to foreigners...I figure if they advertise in the Korean Herald, then they're probably a bit shady...but that's just the general sense I've gotten after sending mass emails to them for the last two years... good luck |

Actually, I would think the opposite. I would go to a travel agent that caters to foreigners because Koreans have no problems getting their ticket in hand a day before they leave for the trip (it's their way and they just accept it). Travel agents that deal with the foreigners know we don't do things this way and would be more apt to finalize the transaction right away.
Also, if a travel specializes in travel for foreigners, they know we are more apt to spread the word around for crappy service. |
