You've already answered your own question. As long as you can get around in fdisk you'll be fine. Wipe all your linux partitions, reformat and reinstall. Easy as pie.

Is that true in all cases?

I thought depending on volume types and structure that fdisk didn't work in all cases...I seem to remember having to use gdisk a lot of the time when I was teaching linux/unix courses....

(a past lifetime ago) Smile

Sort of. ReiserFS can be a pain in that you can't remove that partition with FDisk. If you run into that situation the easiest way to fix it is to boot your computer with the Linux install disks and remove the partitions from there. A lot of Linux distros will even let you create NTFS partitions.

It's kind of a roundabout way of doing it, but it works.
