Has anyone done an E-2 visa run to Taipei?

Is it a difficult process or similar to Fukuoka and Osaka?

I just went to Japan over Christmas break and want a change in scenery.

I appreciate any help, my recruiter is a little clueless about visa runs outside of Japan. I had a Korean call the Korean consulate in Taipei and they are on vacation until the 22nd of February, I would be going March 1st-4th.

I think Taipei is warmer than Korea. It might remind you of Cali, so just stay there.

if you have time to burn, there is an extremely cheap flight through China air. About 50% of the price of the other carriers, however there is a layover in Beijing. If you can get a china visa, you could hang out in Beijing for a night (the flight from seoul leaves in the afternoon I think, and the flight to taiwan goes out in the morning)

Did it once.

Consulate is near the tall building. At the time (Dec 2004) there was very little activity in the office. I was able to talk them into same day processing.

Taipei is nice. It was warm, even in December.

Good luck.

I have done it in 2007 when I lived in Korea. I liked my stay in Taipei so much that I moved there in 2008. The Korea consulate is in the World Trade Centre near Taipei 101 and City Hall.

This hotel is near the consulate- http://www.city-hotel.com.tw/bussiness/b1/b1-en.htm . We stayed there and it was nice. If you need any info about Taipei just pm. I lived there for a year and a half and will be able to help you.

crossmr, how much are flights with China Air, and where did you see them? I just checked on their website (China Air) and are quoting 540,000KRW +tax, etc... not that cheap!

I did a trip to taiwan for about 230,000 a few months back on Eva Air, found through a Korean website. Paid about 30,000 per night for a sparse but workable hostel. Not bad at all, I say, but be careful about the restaurant you eat in.

Yeah, I got my ticket already off a Korean website for a pretty good price. I was just worried about the visa run itself.

Thanks for all the help everybody!

Hi,

I'm thinking of going to Tawain for my Visa run next week. Can you confirm how long the process took when you were there to get your visa? Would you recommend it? Also did oyu spend much whe there? I have holidays so thinking of spending 5 days there.

Thanks,
Louise.

Hi, I was living in Taiwan before I came to Korea so I got my visa done there last February. We went in on a Friday and were able to come back on the next Tuesday to pick it up. Maybe if you come on a Monday or something then you'd only need to wait one or two days. I think you should probably call the consulate (they speak English, too)
