Has anyone tried this or heard of anything like it. I seem to recall a thread with someone having a hard time in Bankok at a Korean consul.

Background. I am Canadian and in China with my degree. I ONLY want to go to Korea if I can arrive on an E-2. (Why is a long story.) And mail in China is pretty dodgy so I won't send the original . So I have already been to a Korea consul in Shanghai. Their reaction was: "We don't know what this is ,,,we can't do anything." They suggested the Canada embassy--who in fact will "witness" the degree...

So: I'm thinking let the Canada consul witness it and make a copy which I will bring back to the Korean consul. Any ideas? I will get a local to make some calls here for me and see if we ca sort it out but I'm wondering 1st if anyone on daves has done this. I get the feeling no matter what I get it wont be the "correct"thing...Hmmm it's cold and I am rambling...

What can a Korea consul in Toronto do that they cannot do in China...Does the fact you are out of your country change this process of "notarizing" something? Vague questions I know but thanks for any help...

Just make a high quality colour copy of your degree and send that, if you're worried about losing it in the mail. Claim it's the original. Korea hasn't even started cracking down on people with FAKE degrees, you should be fine. Good luck!

And just out of curiosity... how many news sites and such are blocked out in China? I rather enjoy my CNN, foxnews, abc, etc. stuff.

Could be worth a try....As for news here BBC can be an issue (although I can get the audio at times.) But CNN and any newpapers are OK. For some crazy reason all of geocities is blocked out and generally stuff with Taiwan in the title. Not a big problem really...
