what there are satalites pointing down on every beach in the world?
guess someone behind the desk was looking for some topless girls sunbathing when he noticed a tidal wave? and started to photograph?
emmm makes you worry doesnt it... anyone else watch enemy of the state?

thats pretty strange how a satalite is taking pictures of a coastline in sri lanka for god sake!!

I'm not a satellite engineer or anything but I'd image that they have simple satellite communication and they can get the things to do pretty much anything they want (including take photos).
Also, these pictures are unlikely to be taken from military satellites, since before those type of pictures are released they have to be 'cleared'.
A lot of countries and communications companies put satellites in geo-stationary orbit, meaning that they travel around the earth at the same speed in which the earth moves. Or in other words, the satellite above Sri Lanka, will stay above Sri Lanka as the earth rotates, that way, instead of just being there to take pictures, the Sri Lankans can watch Gerry Springer, and talk to their relatives on other continents.

Also, government agents can spy on unsustpecting, naked, female sunbathers, in the name of the war on terror of course (nice work, if you can get it). Laughing
