Hi,
I'm filling out the forms (in Korea) to get my wife a Canadian Permanent Residence visa. I need some help on a few things.
I have some questions from those who've done it before. I'd ask the Embassy first, but I have to send them a FAX and wait two weeks for a reply. What a hassle.
1. I am a Canadian non-resident and accordingly I didn't have to submit a year end tax form to Revenue Canada, so I have no "Option C" printout to submit with my application.
What do I have to do? Do I have to give Canada a copy of my Korean tax and school records in place of this? The sponsorship documation is not clear on this.
2. I don't have a job lined up in Canada. How am I supposed to prove that we "intend to stay" in Canada given that I also don't own property there or have any real ties to the place other than the fact that I was born there?
3. My wife lived in Canada for more than six months. Do we have to obtain a Canadian Criminal Record check for her and submit that with the application? Or can we submit that document after submitting the application and returning to Canada.
4. What are the income requirements. It's not a problem for us, but out of cursiosity what if you're dirt poor. Does Canada basically say sorry, you can't bring your wife to Canada? You must choose between us and her. I find this intriguing.
Thanks!
