|

I am using a few recruiting agencies to help me locate a short-term gig (about 5 months). Or course with the stories I hear and being here for two years, I usually wouldn't use them but I am a little desperate to find a job that will hire me for a short time. Of course, I'm a big girl and I don't expect them to do much or help me out if I have a hell job. I will make sure I go to the school and investigate first before believing what a recruiter says about them and signing a contract.
***My question is if I use multiple recruiters and turn down offers, will I get a "bad rep" among recruiter agencies or employers? Can they black-list me?
**Will a recruiter demand me to pay them some service fee, even if I don't take any job they show me?
***Do recruiters charge me at all?
***Have you heard of Korea Global Connections, ESL Bridge, and SnB Recruiting? These are the recruiters I sent my stuff too.
***And worst, can a recruiting agency do something terrible (like call immigration and lie and say I'm doing privates or something?) because I don't use their services? I know hagwon owners stoop to this level.
***Yes, I'm ultra paranoid and disillusioned. Teaching in Korea has become a necessary evil. With being here for two years, should I even bother using a recruiter now that I can investigate schools myself? I just want to use the recruiters list sheet so I can track down these schools myself. |

If you can avoid using a recruiter and can check out schools yourself, do it, but if you need to use a recruiter use as many as you want. You will just get more job offers and thus have more options. I went through about 15 recruiters and had new job offers seemingly everyday and I spent a month pondering them and turning the undesirable ones down. Eventually I took one I liked and am now here in Korea happy as can be. Good luck. |
