What is the teacher turnover at your university?
How many teachers hit the road?
Which uni in Korea has the highest turnover?
Explanations as to whay are welcome. |

To add to this, what is the turnover rate in your hagwon?
I have seen an impact on the high turnover rate in the hagwon I worked in before. Some students become aware of this and judge something is not right. Even I was happy to leave after finishing. However, they want me back if they need an extra hand as I am working in a different company in the same city. |

We didn't lose a soul last semester.(Hanyang University)
I suspect it's because of the excellent academic coordinator. |

| We lost one of 18 but there were "issues" and he is being given a semester's notice to find new work. Two others quit and one was forced out at 65. I suspect it will be lower this year. |

Don't Korean universities limit how long foreigners can work there? I don't know that many teachers here, but all of them teach at universities and they all talk about ceilings (2 years, 3 years, 4 years, etc.). But then they also talk about some real oldies who've been at the same uni for, like, 15 ~ 20 years and such. Explanation: The old guys were all 'grandfathered' in, and the rule doesn't apply to them. They say some have been around since Moses, are basically un-fireable, and in at least one recent case "died in the saddle".... (right in front of the students ) |

Many Japanese universities have a cap on number of times a teacher's contract can be renewed.
In Japan, schools are trying to avoid giviving raises or promotions, etc.
University teaching in Japan, long-term, doesn't sound too appealing right now.
The salaries are great though. But who cares if you have to be competing for a job 2 or 3 years down the road.
I didn't think Korea had started doing that yet.
Taiwanese universities do not have limitations on foreign teacher contract renewals. |

| We usually lose 1 or 2 per semester/contract period, but 99.9% of the time it's due to personal issues (wanting to live in a larger city, returning to country of origin, etc.). That's out of 14 teachers. |
