|
|
I went to the main Immigration office in Seoul today to apply for an ARC as I will be staying in Korea for more than 90 days. The fellow categorically stated that as a Canadian tourist ( ie. non-working stiff ) I have the luxury of not having to apply for an ARC. I asked if he was sure: yes.
I have my Korean friend looking into this for me, and will let you all know the outcome. Has anyone come across this situation? I was under the impression that you had to register (and thus obtain an ARC) within 90 days if you were going to stay for more than 90 days, OR am I missing something really simple such as: I must register with the Immigration Office (where register means ... what?)?
Thanks everyone.
Hope you all have an excellent year. |

You're technically supposed to go register with Immigration after 90 days in country, where you'll get an ARC.
I don't know the process, as I have never personally known anyone to do this. |

| No further registration required for Canadians staying here up to 6 months on a tourist visa. Simple as that. |

That's true...I posted on this a while ago and it was moved to the FAQ...and someone STILL owes me a beer from that exchange... |

I have been asked for my ARC when departing after less than 90 days on a C3. (I'm from the US.)
Just my experience. |

| Relax, you as a citizen of the greatest country on Earth can enjoy 6 calendar months un-molested (unless you want to be) in the ROK. |

Everybody's confirmed it but I'll do the same. I was in Korea once for about four months. I phoned immigration after almost three and was informed that I needn't bother.

Just don't work here while on a 6-month tourist visa from Canada.
Of course, it's my opinion that Korea could put a seriously huge dent in the number of illegal teachers if they took this away from Canadians. |

Yes Derrek. How many times have you made that comment? Perhaps the Canadian government should stop giving 6 month Visas to Koreans as well. This might cut down on the number of Koreans going to Canada to have babies, so that their children will have Canadian passports. Good idea, eh?

| You should read some of the things he's said to women on this forum who have had to have abortions. He's a pig, anyway. |

I agree. Derrek comes across as one sleazy, lecherous, desperate guy. |
