| I'm inching closer to sending out resumes, filling out applications, etc. My goal is to be in NE Asia (I'm focusing on Japan and Korea) by early May, or thereabouts. This sounds like a reasonable time frame, based on what I've been reading here. Something interesting landed in my lap this afternoon, though. I was asked to consider a 9-week work assignment in Costa Rica. If it were to eventuate, then I'd aim to be in J or K sometime in July. Although the schools advertise themselves as hiring year-round, I wonder: is there a definite better or worse time for applications? Would a July ETA harm my chances of finding a decent position? Thoughts, anyone? The Costa Rica thing is only a possibility at this stage, and I'd like to have as much information as possible before making my decisions. |

| It depends- Public schools hire for March and September ( mostly March though) and hagwons, where most ESLers work, really do hire year round. Most schools would probably want you to start at the begining of the month though, so getting here mid month puts you in a good position to find work. |
