Who wears shoes in the house at home? Doesn't it make your floor and carpet really dirty? Or does no one do this and the myth is perpetuated by TV sitcoms?

Never, I take them off immediately (along with all my clothes). just kidding about the last part.
If I do have shoes on in the house.. its just the first 5 minutes when coming in.. and the last 5 minutes before I leave. |

I used to walk around in my stocking feet back home.
And my clothes as well. (I feel I have to qualify my statement after Tiger Beer's.) |

For those of you who voted yes, do you have special house shoes, or do you wear the same shoes you wear outside in the house? Isn't that really filthy? Who cleans your floors/carpets?

Now that I'm no longer living on the floor, I'm quite happy to walk around the house with my shoes on |

Shoes you say? Self-respecting Australians wear only thongs, mate! Shoes are only for very special events like weddings and football award nights. Otherwise you're just a big, fat pansy.
Note: I believe in less cultured areas of the world, thongs are referred to as "flip-flops". |

In my uni house, we wore shoes. But the place was a dive. At my parent's home. Never. Not unless I wanted a tongue lashing from Momma. |

When my students tell me that all foreigners wear shoes in their home, I first ask them if Japanese do that. And then I tell them to stop believing everything they see on TV. |

Well, when I was 6 years old I would've thought they were sling shots, but when I was 12 I probably would've found them to be very user-friendly wedgie devices. I guess your average adult Aussie would refer to those as "artsy-fartsy underdaks". |

I try to avoid wearing shoes at all in summer in new zealand. Quite happy to go barefoot around the house and to the corner store. If I'm going to the mall then I put on shoes then take em off before I go in the house. |

Wear em in the house. Summer barefoot or thongs. I help do the housework and with tiled floors it's a breeze. |

I stayed at my sister's for a while over the holidays, and naturally slipped off the shoes at the door. She kept getting annoyed at my shoes being in the way by the door.
I never have liked wearing shoes inside, now it is almost impossible for me to do. I also wash my floor all of the time now to keep it nice and clean under my toes. |
