I needed something notarized, so I went there this morning. Their hours of service are only 4 a day, and this was not one of them (no service Wed. morning) but they gave me service anyways. Nice of them.

Well, they stamped my paper 2 times and charged me 45,000 won for it.

On the bulletin board beside me, there was a newspaper article about being in foreign prisons. Someone wrote 'bs' on it (not abbreviated) in pen. I let the lady know, and she took it down.

Somehow I expected better out of the embassy.

Maybe it had appeared quite recently and they didn't know it was there. They took it down when you pointed it out. They gave you a service on a day they don't usually.
If there was anyone to expect better from, it would be the jerk who wrote on the bulletin board article in the first place. I guess he/she thinks being in a foreign prison is OK Confused

Actually, I was referring to the idiot who wrote the profanity.

At times, I swear like a sailor too, but I know the time and place.

My bad, I mistook the wording in your post to mean it was the embassy's fault.

Every time I've had to go down there it's cost between 30,000 to 100,000W for whatever I needed to get signed/processed. Hit the bank up before you go for anything... The upside is there isn't usually a big wait.. sleepy little Fed gov't outpost that it is...

b's ??

I found them (one lady in particular) to be very pleasant and helpful..Got good advice when I had an Immigration issue. Also had a problem withthe window expiring on a Chinese visa and I need a passport adjustment----they broke their own policy and speeded things up-very cool.

Having said that don't go there with E-2 and labor issues---or police matters-it ain't their job and they won't get involved. But with what they do I was always happy and never left angry. But yes-bring money. Wink

I was just there, too. Very polite and efficient, but bloody unbelievably expensive. When I needed something notorised at the Korean consulate in Canada it was something like $3Cdn. You'd think that with Canada's tax rate vs. Korea's it should be the other way round.

It was also interesting to walk by the American Embassy afterward. It's a fortress surrounded by riot police and security devises, versus ours, a simple unguarded office building with a free computer to use and a library to browse while you wait. Some things really make me thankful I wasn't born 100 miles south of where I was.

Did you write it this way on purpose or have you just been in Korea too long? Smile

(I once got serviced at the Canadian Embassy but that is a whole other story) (j/k)
