Hi.. I wonder can anybody give me some advice here. Would be great.

My current contract expires on March 31st. The date of expiration on my E2 visa is May 10- over a month later.

I am planning to stay in Korea for a second year in a different hagwon(currently searching). I want to take April off, visit Australia and return to teach in Korea starting again in May. That is my plan.

How should i go about that exactly? What is the best way to go about doing that? For example, can i go to Aus and return with my E2 visa in April even though i wont be working at that time? Or Should i try to secure a job before going to Australia, visit embassy while there or what?

Its a little confusing for me at the moment.. Im sure this topic has been covered before so please excuse my ignorance.

Basically what is the best approach i should take in the above situation? Anybody do a similar gig?

Thanks in advance for your replies.. All advice will be considered. |

Not a good idea because as far as I'm aware, your visa is only good while you're working. As soon as immigration finds out you are no longer working at your school, your visa may be cancelled (while you're gone). However, you could come in on a tourist visa once the E2 has been cancelled, but then you'd just have to leave the country again to get a visa for the new job.

That's the best idea really. Before you leave, go to immigration with your boss and cancel your visa so there's no overlap with the new job. Having a job lined up before you come back means you'll be able to get the visa in Australia so you won't have to take another trip for your visa when you get back. The one drawback, however, is finding a hakwon that's willing to hire you more than a month in advance (a lot of schools don't plan that far ahead), but it's still doable. |
