I hope any of the teachers out there who are teaching at colleges and universities can help me by circulating the following message to their students.
Thanks!
--------------------------
A project designed together with and providing important input to the United Nations Development Programs Asia Pacific Development Information Program is now accepting applications from students from the Asia-Pacific region to participate in a forum on Internet governance.
Please circulate the following information to students that you feel would be well-suited to take part in this very important consultative project that will inform UNDP-APDIP research, awareness raising and policy training activities.
---------
The United Nations Development Programs Asia Pacific Development Information Program seeks to increase stakeholder awareness on the issues of Internet Governance within the Asia-Pacific region. Graduate students specializing in information technology and development issues at the London School of Economics are acting as volunteer experts to UNDP, the global development agency of the UN, to bring student and youth voices into the debate on Internet governance.
This project, which seeks to identify students' priority issues and concerns in information technology policy-making, is being conducted across about 30 countries in the Asia Pacific region. We expect that your participation will help you gain perspectives through interactions with other students from around the world, understand the latest policy issues, and give you the opportunity to voice your ideas on how to make the Internet work better.
Based on your qualifications and application, you may be accepted to work on this key UNDP consultative project by participating in either a several-week-long online discussion forum or a 2-hour online, interactive chat session with free flowing discussion. You will be expected to actively contribute to the discussion about the impact of information technology and the mechanisms of Internet governance as well as offer suggestions to improve management of the Internet.
If you are interested in participating in this project please read more about the project on the UNDP-APDIP website at http://igov.apdip.net/youth/introduction/ and then fill in the application at http://igov.apdip.net/youth/application/ before the March 21, 2005 deadline. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Peter Chowla, one of the project coordinators, at P.S.Chowla (AT) lse.ac.uk.
Best regards,
Peter Chowla
