No matter what age, no matter how lethargic or grumpy, if I utter the word "crazy" in the presence of my students they crack up like it's the funniest thing they've ever heard.

"You didn't do your homework? That's crazy!"

Adoring laughter ensues.

I guess, overall, I find that Koreans of all ages are pretty easy to amuse. It would explain the popularity of that idiotic Gag Concert show. I was out drinking with a bunch of my coworkers one evening and the conversation came to a grinding halt because everyone was transfixed on the restaurant's big screen, laughing hysterically at the endless array of funny faces and wigs. A fat Korean man in a curly pink wig? That's crazy! One of the Korean teachers asked why I wasn't watching. First of all, I don't speak Korean. Second, I don't need to speak Korean to know that this show isn't anywhere near funny. Third, the volume is shut off, so all of you people are sitting here laughing solely because there's a man in a dress on television.

So yeah, the "crazy" train shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

The kids sometimes really crack up at my foolishness. Makes me wonder if I should consider stand-up comedy for a living. But it is just foolish stuff perhaps only kids in Asia might.

I just can't find Korean comedy funny no matter how hard I try. True, its mostly because I can't understand the language well enough but you don't need to be fluent to get all the physical comedy.

I was sitting in a hof with a buddy the other day and one of the many ridiculous comedy programs was on the big screen. The entire hof was transfixed by a bunch of 20somethings playing a game my 10 year olds play. Do you no the "horse" game. People make a horse type creature by lining up and putting their head inbetween the legs of the person in front of them. The other team runs and jumps on their back and sits on them.

If you can picture that in your heads then I'm sure you are cracking up right now. The whole bar sure was. Minus me and my friend of course.

Man, CRAZY

Inserting one's digits into an unsuspecting person's nether region is a real hoot.

It's comedy gold. Gold, I say!

I always find the term "soju tent" seems to make them laugh. I know it's not the right term but once they realize what I'm talking about they laugh.

Sometimes poking fun at grandmothers makes them laugh. I like to do an impression of trying to get on a subway and suddenly being body checked by an old lady trying to get to an empty seat on the subway.

I've had kids tell me that 'crazy' and 'psycho' are mild swear words. It would be like a teacher saying shit and damn all the time. It's funny.

If the kids won't read the dialogue about a family going to the restaurant to eat kimchi, just change it to the family going to the bathroom to eat dong. They'll be wanting to act it out til eternity.

Turn on a TV anywhere and Korean are like months to a flame in that every thing else stops. Scarry. Really scarry.

Korean kids also laugh hysterically if something is colored anything other than its "usual" (what's usual to them) colour. Green horses, yellow gorillas, black people. Wow, hilarious. Rolling Eyes Really I think it's a bit of a testament to their lack of imagination and creativity.

With respect to Korean gameshows: small things amuse small minds. It sometimes makes me wonder about Korean psyche in general.

It's a shame Beavis and Butthead never took off over here.

The kids I teach always get a kick out of me telling them they smell like "room 9" . There is always the new kid who doesn't get it at first, then his face lights up and he starts giggling uncontrollably.
