Has anyone used a travel agency or visa service to get the visa you need entering China from Korea?

I'm a UK passport holder if this makes any difference.

I think I need to provide 2 photos and they'll have my passport for about 3 business days- is this correct?

I did it straight through the embassy, don't remember needing passport photos, but maybe. I think if you go to the embassy, you can pay more to have the process sped up.

I work 8-7 mon-fri so am guessing a trip to the embassy is out of the question.
Bah!

well OK then 9-6 in the office, but it's an hour bus ride to anywhere at all, so I get paid 8-7.

I'm going to Shanghai. (WOO!)

I picked up a Chinese Visa on two separate occasions from two different travel agencies last year in Jeonju. Both times it took a week and cost 85,000 won. It's probably cheaper and quicker if you live near Seoul or Busan where there's Chinese Diplomatic Missions though. If it can be done within a week from Jeonju, it can be done anywhere!

woo! shanghai? me too, in the next couple of weeks actually...
i got my visa through my travel agent in seoul, took three working days after i dropped off my passport with him (yes, i do trust him... he hasn't robbed us yet), paid 49,000 won and gave him a passport photo. visas for brits cost 49,000 apparently, not sure about other nationalities...
pm me if you want my travel agents contact number. he seems a good guy and has arranged trips for a number of my friends.
p.s. shanghai looks great eh? can't wait to see it!

Shanghai looks brilliant yeah, are you there for chinese new year? We fly on Feb 8th.

My problem is that right now I need my passport most days at work, hopefully I'll be able to get 3 days where I don't soon.

So the travel agent doesn't charge anything on top of the 49,000 won fee? I booked my tickets direct from the airline so surely will have to pay someone something.

I was just in Shanghai for non-lunar New Year, booked through the Korean agent for China Eastern, which took care of the visa.
