inadvertently came home from Yongsan with a P4 2.8A CPU (which has an FSB of 533) and a 512Mb RAM card that is PC3200. Ideally, it should be PC2700 RAM.
This shouldn't cause problems should it? I guess it just means we paid a little too much for RAM the CPU can't support but at least we have plenty for the CPU to use within its capacity.
Will it be a problem?
Secondly, if I want to get a second 512Mb RAM card in the future, should it be PC2700 (to match the CPU) or PC3200 (to match the one I bought by mistake)? |

Match the RAM and as long as the mainboard isn't exclusively for 533FSB CPUs (as in it should support 800FSB as well) the RAM won't be a problem.
The 2.8 with a 533FSB overclocks nicely, and with that RAM, it would be sweet.
Tell me....are you building a second system, or did you cook something on your hot rod? |
