OK, I see visa runs to Osaka and Fukoka, but I never see Visa runs to Tokyo. Has anyone ever done this before?

I have to go on a via run in March, and have to decide where to go. So, anyone been to Tokyo? ANd if you have, how long does it take to get a visa? Same day or over night.

thanks alot.

Osaka is probably the most popular because if you have to spend a night a $70 hotel bill is better than a $200 hotel bill.

Tokyo's much more of a pain in the ass from my one experience (September 2003)... Most important is that they typically require at least a day or two to process the thing. We went there (ignorantly) expecting it would be the same as Osaka (same day deal)... We were there on other business though, and just thought we'd be able to do it on the fly. Anyways, after some pleading with a (justifiably) none-too-pleased immigration clerk, we managed to get our visas later that day. Maybe if you KNOW you're gonna be there for a few days, it might be worth calling the embassy just to make sure you'll have enough time.

Also, the Korean embassy is in Azabu (area in Tokyo with a lotta other embassies)... It's sorta close to Ropponggi, which may be of nighttime interest, but a lot of other areas you may want to go to for sightseeing/whatever can be time-consuming to get to... Tokyo's pretty big, and the subway system is, um... 'convoluted'. Osaka's much easier to get around if you're only there for a couple days.

I love Tokyo to death, but for my upcoming visa run, I'll definitely be going to Osaka again. People there are awesome too. I'm actually heading there on the 24th for a couple days to hook up a new visa... Anyone there at the same time?

Thanks. Most likely I will go to Fukoka because I have been there before and it is easy to get a visa there in one day.
My friend got a visa in Osaka in one day also. It is just now I hear it may take 2 days to get a visa, and that is why I was thinking about Tokyo, because I would love to go there.
Who knows. I have to go some time in March.
THe school said I can choose the place to go. I plan on staying for the weekend, plus taking off the Monday or Friday.
But then again, if it takes 2 days now to get the visa, I have to make sure the Embassy is open on Saturday.
