we're getting ready for our daughter's 1st birthday party at the end of the month, and discovering it's a really big deal these days! it's quite the undertaking (for such an early milestone).
any stories to share or inspiring ideas? Corp.? Sparkles? Dutch? Others? |

And we are apparently celebrating our baby's 100th day at the end of this month, also! I thin it is around the 22nd or something?
I have no idea what to do.. my husband doesn't know what to do.. I am thinking may be we should just miss it altogether (although the MIL might not be very happy about it...)...

we had a casual party for Sophia's 100 days. my husband didn't even tell his friends why we were having a party. a lot of people came and we had fun. my mum and hubby's mummy did all the preparations so there was plenty of food for everyone.
the only formal thing was that my m-o-l made duk and wrapped it into individual portions; as quests left, they each got a brick to take home. the next week i gave the extra portions to the administrators at my school.
do you have that info. about your friend's parent group? they might have some advise to lend. |

I have no idea where it is going to be. She tells me, I show up ( I am not an asshole that way, just have too many other things to worry about).
His birthday is the 24th. |

We had our son's first birthday party at Outback Steakhouse. Around 40-45 people showed up. We did all the customary things, people ate, people drank and we shelled out a small fortune.
We were conveniently in the US for our daughter's first birthday. We celebrated with family at my parents' house. |

I did my daughters first birthday on February 22, 2003 at the Hamilton hotel, buffet, video, friends and family. It was a little expensive but in the end with gifts etc we broke even.
Congratulations and have fun. |

My wife told me it's not uncommon these days for parents to spend upwards of 6 million won on their child's first birthday.
We, on the other hand, went to the Marche and bought ddeok for a bunch of close friends and relatives. 6 million won is way to much to pay for something the little girl won't even remember, I rationalized.

I'm with you. We had cake. I'm not one to make a big deal of celebrations or holidays anyway. |

same here with our son. we had the best time. our apartment was full of good friends. we drank, ate, celebrated and the cost to us was no different than any party, maybe $250.00.
this time, we decided to go with a local restaurant. we'll buy some balloons, get her portrait done, and whatnot. i'm sure it'll be fun. |
