I just moved to my new place near Seollung (??? ) station and today went to Kangnam. On the way back I decided to walk and it took about an hour. The walk itself felt all right and I love walking, but then again there were cars everywhere, construction sites, places of all sorts that I'm sure were spitting out noxious fumes everywhere that are now in my lungs.
Is the walk still worth it? I remember reading before that eating fruit that has been sprayed with pesticide is still better than eating no fruit whatsoever, and maybe the walk is kind of the same thing. Luckily my room is only 5 pyung and so when I buy two or three plants tomorrow it should make the place where I live and sleep a lot healthier.

Sure it is..... usually. Health wise however depending on the level of carbons, lead etc it may not be. Difficult to tell however unless you area has an electronic signboard showing live readings of the amount of poisons in the air.

Slightly off topic I'd like to suggest a walk for you.

Travel straight down Teheran Road, to the COEX intersection, head underground and pop up on the opposite side. Continue down the road heading towards Olympic Stadium, go over the bridge and enter the complex on the left had side of the road. For a photo op go through the only open gate that says tourists and wander into the stadium. If an event is on, no matter, write on a piece of paper "sightseer" oin it to your chest and wander in for free. Exit and head to the underpass that says Hangang Park. From the han you can walk more than 20k's in either direction. Well worth the effort.

I live near by Gangnam station and I sometimes walk to Samsung station for the mere joy of it. Really no joke. It is better to be moving the body along, than not moving the body.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I'm just 5 minutes from Seollung station. Maybe the hardest subway station to pronounce. So two L's make an N sound???

Oh, that's good. My roommate from before was from Cork and he always brought people over. Haven't seen an Irish person for over half a year now.
Funny though, the and together make it into a double but not everybody follows those rules, and the kids from the hagwon downstairs pronounce it as seon lung.
My place is actually halfway in between and û, so a tiny little ways north. Where's yours?

Weatherman, aren't those underground passageways from to Z just to die for? I discovered a hollow bit of wall today - when I knocked on the green bricks I could hear the sound on the other side.

Um, I stay above ground. Exept for crossing a few of the streets. If you know of some other way underground, I would be happy to learn about them. I walk to enjoy the buildings, people, traffic, and a bit of exercize. Your area around Sollung has one of the best vibes I have sensed in all of Seoul. Not sure why, just feel happy when around Sollung.

I just meant those underpasses you have to use to go under the roads because they don't have street lights from time to time...

What about the big road that runs parallel to it on line 7 in between û and е? You leave û station out exit 3 and walk down about three blocks. Then you get to a big intersection and that's the road. If you turn left there are head towards е it feels similar to but every single car is black and perfectly shiny. It's weird.

Is your new place really only 5 pyeong? It had better be cheap, or else a goshiwon would be better. Same size and a lot less money.

Whererever I'm living or wherever I'm travelling I love going for long walks as well--just wandering the streets taking everything in. I used to walk a lot when I lived in Busan, though the pollution was an issue there as well. I wonder if those surgical masks might alleviate some of the effects of a long walk through the noxious muck.

Yep, just going for a random walk somewhere in Seoul is pretty interesting - you can usually turn up an unexpected sight or something else to visit at a later date.

I did a rather long walk one day from Sillim to Gangnam following the line of the subway. It took around two hours, but I stumbled across a tranquil temple near the Bangbae subway station which was nice to visit, and then the area where Teheran-ro begins at Seocho was pretty strange as it was just so quiet, compared to the noise to be found a little further up the street at and Gangnam.

I agree with weatherman about the Seollung area having a nice vibe.

I tried riding my scooter from Bundang to Kangnam and on to Itaewon a few times.

Won't do that again... VERY dirty.

Had to wash the dirt and grime off of my face. Gross.
