How will you celebrate "Microsoft Patch Day?"
Could this become a monthly "special day?" Perhaps, IT professionals or system administrators should be granted an extra day leave around or immediately after these times of month?
Microsoft Preps 13 Security Advisories
Microsoft's February Patch Day will be a busy one for IT administrators. The software giant on Thursday announced plans to release 13 security advisories on Feb. 8, including "critical" fixes for Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player and MSN Messenger. Also expected is a cumulative patch to plug known vulnerabilities in the widely deployed Internet Explorer browser and updates for Microsoft SharePoint Services, Microsoft .NET Framework and Visual Studio.

Microsoft Reverses Plan, Will Patch Media Player
Microsoft will patch its Windows Media Player after all. One week after saying it had no plans to change the way WMP (Windows Media Player) handles the download of DRM licenses, Microsoft now says it will release an update in the next 30 days to help thwart the threat of spyware infection.

Microsoft Patch Day Lacks an IE Fix
"We're still working on the IE update," said Stephen Toulouse, program manager at the Microsoft Security Response Center. "As soon as we're satisfied with the quality of the patch, we'll release it."
