I was wondering if someone could tell me about the SLP in the "Hong Ik University area" or Seodaemoon. I've heard some really bad things about the other SLP's and I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Also, I'm working with a recruiter on it and she's acting a little shady about it - dodged my question about photos and getting in contact with current/former teachers. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Definantly,
If it is shady from the outset I would just not even think about it.

Remember you have to put a year of your life into their and a good place could make or break.

Why would you want to come here if the place you are going to work for is crap?? Use your common sense and some restraint and a good job will pop up.

I'm not sure about their reputation. They're right down the road from the school I work at and the building itself is nice, the neighborhood's pretty good, but yeah, if they won't give you any people to contact, something's not right. They could be hiding something. Coming to Korea to teach is a big commitment and you don't want a year of sucky working conditions.

I got hired at an SLP here in Seoul last June.

I had just finished up my Chemo treatment and wanted to come back to korea to work. So, I got accepted by the SLP school there. I did contact one of the teachers and she said it was a really nice school. I told the director of this and he said it was ok and needed me to start work ASAP. I contacted my doctor at the time and he said I was ok.

Everything went well until the owner found out that I had cancer and told me that I was not healthy enough to work there and so he told me that I was fired. That was 3 weeks after coming here.

I have read many posts concerning SLP in differenct locations, and if you get approached by one go to the place, look at it, check out the staff, spend some time with the teachers after work for a beer. Do your homework on these places and if you have a strange feeling about it in your stomic. Then don't go there.
