|
|
I'm looking to buy a new notebook and I know all the usual places (Yongsan, Technomart, etc) but I wanted to hear any suggestions for other, possibly better places to buy in Korea.
Know any good websites that might be cheaper? or Better?
Other stores that I might never have seen?
Any advice is appreciated. |

Hi,
I was in the same boat as you...looking for a laptop. I live on Jeju Island so buying anything that isnt '110% gayed out' is pretty much a challenge.
I wanted a high end laptop for gaming, 3d annimation etc... so i ended up getting one over the net. There are a few places that ship internationally which helps, i got mine from www.hypersonic-pc.com there are others like www.pctorque.com these ship internationally.
I know these are not in Korea but i didnt want one with a Korean keyboard and OS. Besides, last time i was in Seoul (oh the thought of normality ) i didnt really see anything that i thought "WOW"!
Just my thoughts....... |

Korean keyboards are pretty much english keyboards with some smaller Korean characters on the keys. I don't see this as being a problem. *head scratch* If you're living in Korea, you will find times you want to actually type in Korean characters. And having them right on the keyboard kinda makes it easy.
To get an English O/S you just have to ask. |

Korean keyboards are pretty much american english keyboards.
I find the difference between UK and US keyboards even more infuriating than the difference between UK and French keyboards. And that's saying something. |

What im saying is that when i spend a load of money on a new laptop i want it to be the way i want it and with the amount of money i spend i expect things to be perfect and to the exact standards and specs i want , without Korean characters on the keyboard.....its not a problem, didnt say it was. I never have the need to type in Korean. I feel more at ease doing things this way....
In regards to the OS, i've read so many times on this forum how people have asked for an English version of Windows (or whatever OS you prefer) and discovered somewhere down the line that its not authentic.
...whatever floats your boat
