Can anyone help at all ??

We have tried typing in the code 9,9,9,9 followed by 0.

The message 'Region 0' appears. I assume this now means the unit is region free.

Everything seemd to be working fine until I tried some British DVD's... they do not work properly.

have I done something wrong ??

When I try the DVD's - it is in black and white with the screen flickering like crazy...... what does it look lik ewhen you are trying to use a DVD that is the wrong region for your player ??

cheers

If you got the region '0' message then you did what I did with my DVP320. Correctly. But my DVP320 plays British dvd's fine. Something unusual is up.

It's not a region hack thing, it's a PAL vs NTSC thing I believe. Since I've never had such a problem I'll leave it to someone else to step you through it, but I have the same DVD and I believe all you need to do is go to the set up menu and select PAL or MULTI from the Video Set Up.

thanks for your help.

i checked - it was on MULTI. When I changed it to PAL the brithish dvds worked but the others didnt. Looks like I will have to keep switching before playing each DVD - dont know whats going on there but at least its an improvement

British, NZ, and Australian TVs operate on PAL- you'll have to switch to PAL whenever you play CD meant for those regions regardless of whether you have the region hack or not.
I believe everywhere else uses NTSC?
Not sure.
You should be thankful though- back in the day before DVD I had a buddy order by mail a whole whack of VHS videos from GB at a riduculously inflated price. Imagine his dismay when he discovered that in order to play them he had 2 options: buy a PAL compatible TV and VCR, or pay someone another ridiculous amount to have them converted from PAL to NTSC. Having to press an extra couple of buttons isn't a big thing, Ed.

I've got that DVD player. It's great. It's so small, I always bring it to my friends' home whenever we all get together for movies.
