10 Percent of New Kia Staff at Gwangju Paid Bribes
In the developing cash-for-jobs scandal at the Gwangju plant of Kia Motors, 120 of the total 1,226 workers who were put on the firm's payroll during the last two years are believed to have bribed management and union officials and paid job brokers, the Gwangju Prosecutors' Office announced Monday. The 120 jobseekers on average paid W20 million each. Twelve union leaders pocketed an average of W135 million a person in return for recommending casual workers for permanent employment.
