Interesting article in New York Times on women divers of Jeju. Especially interesting sidelight on Korean culture, since Jeju people are actually from a different branch of Mongols than mainland Koreans. Their society has been matrilineal rather than patriarchal, and the article notes that they actually celebrated the birth of GIRLS, not boys!
