I was just reading that it is possible to download the income tax forms and file....however, I will have to get my T4's mailed from the fam at home....
Should I do it or wait till I get back and do 2 of them in 2006???
Lastly, for any tax experts out there....I think I may be in a little trouble....
I worked in 2004...Jan to Aug in Canada. I had one full time job(paid taxes)...and a part time job(tax-free...but not under the table)...then I worked in Korea from Sept to Dec(tax free)...and they didn't take any taxes off me here.
Am I screwed? |

In a word "yes"
According to the Personal Income Tax forms that I have seen, a citizen must pay income tax if they have lived in Canada for longer than 180 days during the fiscal year (January 1-December 31). Add in the fact that you were working during this time pretty much guarantess that you are "eligible" for taxation by the Canadian government.
You have a few choices, you can wait until you go back and let the gov't audit you for which you will then pay your taxes + interest or you can file for them now. It really depends on your cash flow situation at the moment. |
