Can anybody who is familiar with the school or the city offer me some insights on what to expect. Any help is appreciated. I'm just crossing my fingers that I didn't sign a contract with a nightmare school. For all intensive purposes, everyone I've spoke with has been pretty up front and nice. So nerve racking this process is. I guess you won't know until you're there. Some insights would ease my nervousness, whether good or bad.
Thanks. |

If this is at all connected to, or anything like, an outfit called E-ton Language School in a different city where I worked for nine miserable months, be very very afraid. It may be a franchise and differ from school to school or they may all be equally horrible; I don't know. You can PM me if you want details. |

I did a year in Kimpo at one of the local schools. I had heard that the owner went under due to tax problems. This might be the same guy under another name. Who is the owner? PM me if you like. |

All I know is that there are different branches with different owners. All aren't created equal. |

And they're probably not affiliated with THE Eton. |

I don't know the school, but Kimpo is a decent place to live. Lived there for a while myself, enough stores to keep you happy, but for entertainment, you need to go into Seoul once in a while. We lived there for 3 years, and it was pretty good.
Good luck. |

Yes, they are one and the same. Just different romanization of the hangul.
I lived and worked at a couple of places in Kimpo for almost 3 years. It's a decent place with enough to do.
I don't know anything about Eton but there are alot of hagwons in Kimpo. The competition is getting more and more fierce so expect some of the hagwons to start shutting down there soon.
The last place I was at was doing really well up until about 3 months before I started. The place went down hill drastically and rebounded slightly with alot of hard work by everyone employed there. It has since come close to rock bottom several times and is only staying afloat with money from a mysterious source.
Even the established hagwons are running into some trouble with the arrival of some large chain academies that have taken over several floors of some of the newer buildings.
Best bet is to go with a school that has been in Kimpo for at least 5 years or more, otherwise you are taking a serious risk.
Cheers and goodluck. |
