How impressed/unimpressed do people think employers would be with an MA from Payap University in Chiang Mai? Especially Korean employers.

Has anyone heard anything, good or bad, about it?

(1) Where the heck is it?
(2) In Thailand I guess, the land known for phoney degrees.
(3) That country ain't exactly high on the Korean respect ladder, well below actual native English-speaking countries and the institutions therein.

it would be cheper and just as effective to design your own degree and print it up real nice. I'm doing my MA TESL via Birmingham and it is good. If you are going to do it, do it online with Bham, Lester, McQuary etc.

The FAQ is our FRIEND. Though nobody talks about the school you are asking about, it is safe to assume that that diploma would be more useful as toilet paper....being as how distance and non-western degrees are seen.

There was some discussion on the Teacher Training Forum last October about the MA-TESOL at Payap, including some contributions from instructors and students currently in the program:

Why not just go for a course here and make some contacts while at it? Of course if your goal is going to Thailand that's a whole different story.

Good idea...according to their website, they have a six-week TESOL certificate program, and if you pass it you qualify to apply for their Masters degree. Sounds like a nice way to ease into it if one wants to.
