Today I was told that the boss needed to photocopy my E-2 visa because the police called and said that they're checking hagwons for illegal teachers. They were supposed to drop by today but they didn't. Anyone else running into this? I'm guessing it's in part due to the MBC programming a couple weeks ago but it's hard to believe just a TV spot could have such an effect.

I had a cop at my old haggie just before World Cup. They said that they were compiling lists of foreigners in case of trouble during the event. My boss lied and said I was just a part-timer. Strangely, this made the cops go away. Anyway, I think that they are going to round us all up and shoot us in a football stadium. I'd hit the road if I were you.

No no no...they're gonna do something worse than shoot us. We're all gonna be a part of a Moonie Mass Marriage ceremony at the stadium.

My boss 2 years ago said one day that the police came and looked over my documents (which the boss already had copies of). There were rumors of a foreigner selling drugs in the area.

Apparently someone at another hagwon got busted within the week.

Oh good lord. Is this the best use of the cop's time? Man. Ticket a school bus for running a red light or get motorcycles off the sidewalk. An illegal teacher isn't going to kill a kid. Theoretically.

Isnt that a bit out of the police's jurisdiction? Doesnt immigration have its own storm troopers?

In a police state, the military is the government is the police is everyone around you. Denounce before you yourself are denounced.
