| I just got engaged and we're planning to get married here in Korea. Have any of you purchased your wedding gown here? I know there's that big row of bridal shops near Ehwa/Ahyeon. Do any of you know a good place with reasonable prices and good service? Any help you could give would be appreciated. |

Congratulations!
I got my dress in Belgium, so can't help you with the shops... But I know Japanese come over here to buy dresses, costs about the same to have one made in Korea as it costs to rent one in Japan apparently.

Congratulations!
I actually had mine shipped from NYC, so I can't help you. But I did get my reception dress made in one of those shops near e-dae. Can't remember the name but brilliant service and very well made dress too!

I found that there are such an awesome collection of wedding dresses online, designed by famous designers and at extremely affordable prices. In my opinion you'd be better buy something gorgeous online and find someone to alter it so its perfect for you, anyhow goodluck and congratulations  www.bridesave.com is a great site with almost every designer you could think of on it! |

| Just bear in mind that shipping anything over 75 USD will incur an import tax of around 25% - I had to pay that before they could deliver my wedding dress to me. |

Was it complicated to have it shipped here? ...that's another option since I'm going home when my contract finishes in May and then coming back in December about a month or so before the wedding. |

| Don't know if you have a trip to Thailand planned between now and the wedding, but you can have something very gorgeous made with reams of silk and beading for around $500 over there. |

Then just bring one over... that way you save on shipping and import tax.
It wasn't complicated as far as the purchase go... it was actually really easy. I just didn't know that I had to pay tax on the dress and argued for ages with some silly Korean tax officers  |

We got married last year.
We used a studio, which cost about 2 million.
This price included:
4 different wedding dresses for the photos including one for the wedding day itself.
2 Tuxedos
Bouquet
One large album 40 pages.
One smaller album, 20 pages.
One smaller album containing 20 pages with honeymoon photos.
2 large pictures for the wall plus one small desktop one.
Free use of pebeck clothing.
All the negatives afterwards and all the pictures on a disk.
You don't get to keep the dresses or the tux, but for the cost of all the photos and albums, I think it was a damn good price.

I wore a 50's dress on my wedding day. only costed me $35.... the owner said that it became a display item because nobody could fit into the dress, but luckily i did and you betcha i got a big discount.
ok, back to the op's question.....i'd like to suggest that you check out wedding shops in ewha or ahyun. there are tons of wedding dress shops there, and i am sure you'd be able to rent one. |

Unless the family is pretty well off and in it to show off their wealth, most Koreans do NOT buy their wedding gowns.
Wedding halls, especially in larger centres, always have a good selection of nice gowns, in different sizes and styles, that you may use for the pictures and the ceremony.
Wedding ceremonies are super convenient here and can be very economical. I was personally VERY relieved when I found out that organising a wedding here just meant buying a couple of hanbok (even in a Western style wedding you will have a traditional pehbeck ceremony afterwards which requires traditional garb), and to visit the wedding hall to check some boxes on an application form, pay a deposit, and, in your case, to select and reserve the dress you want to use.

| I didn't have a pehbeck because it meant that I also would have to have a Chinese tea ceremony thing which woul just be too long and too much hassle. So rather than pleasing one and not the other, we just had a church wedding. |
