I don't know if anyone has watched this Korean movie (Teach Me English, Please), but I thought it was really funny. Some parts of the movie were quite imaginative. There are many situation in the movie that actually happened to me in my classroom. I laughed when the foreign teacher tried to scam on the student. Anyway, what did you thing about the movie?

I've seen it several times...it's hilarious and quite accurate Laughing

the bit about screaming English at the top of your lungs was a trend several years ago...Koreans actually got it in their head that if you did that you could learn English much quicker Shocked

anyway, hilarious...I met the little girl last year (she belittles the main charater in the office) and her English is better than most of us Laughing

I took for granted that she was a gyopo. Is she Korean?

I guess 'it sucks' is not the answer you are looking for.

The only Korean movie ive really liked to date is My Boss, My Hero (ü).

This "yelling English at the top of your voice" trend was due to a news report and a subsequent marketing campaign on home shopping for a self-teaching English set, inspired by a guy who claims to have taught himself English by speaking....er...yelling at himself in English. I doubt that's the only way he learned but, it was all the rave about 2 or 3 years ago.

I came across this in China and was asked to give a similar kind of motivational english yelling lesson at their term "party" (for want of a better word). They wanted me to get the English students all revved up and excited aboiut learning English. Yikes! Surprised

Too funny... I would have run for my life! Laughing

In terms of "getting revved up", that reminds me of an ESL teacher who was doing seminars for the longest time on doing exactly the same thing. He had a super-high energy level in the class room with a lot of jumping, yelling, clapping, waving, etc. I believe he was teaching in China or East Asia somewhere. In fact, his method looked pretty fun for the students. His methodolgy was even named after him and became pretty well known in the ESL world. I just wish I could remember his name!

One guy in China teaches "Crazy English" to huge groups. Like a concert, he screams something into the microphone and the crows repeats it.

I have one student who was like that. I have managed to ween her off of yelling at me in the hallways, finally.

One of my friends was in the movie, "Teach Me English."

I sort of laughed at the ajosshi character they had the foreign chick fall in love with. A Korean man's dream it could be that easy, or that she would be remotely attracted to him.........

I really didn't like that girl after she acted like a bitch during the daughter/mother reunion. That was pretty low class. And she's ugly too. Overall, the movie sucked. Too many stereotypes.
