K, Ive been in Bundang now for like 9 months, and all ive been hearing for like months is just how much of a crappy school this is. I hear that the director is just a real piece of work.
Now ive read some complaints about other Poly's and who knows whats goin on there, but I hear NOTHING good about this school. anybody I know who was interviewed said that they would never have taken a job there, and any teacher i know that has come from there has talked about how bad it is.
I hear that the director is a real hard case and drives the teachers nuts. Youre not allowed to sit down, and you had better be careful if you buy anything for your apartment cause apparently he likes to creatively "keep" things that he never bought too.
I have never been on this board and NOT seen an Ad for a teacher at that Location in any given week. They go through more teachers in a year than Jennifer Lopez does husbands.
Anyway, I am sure that a few teachers wil now come one ( at gunpoint so to speak) to praise this school, and please note i am not saying anything bad about the school myslef, only hearsay, but does anyone have a clue why anybody would even consider working for this school, even at 2.7 million dollars, working 9 - 9 and having no life or free time. |

I'd return to teaching for that kind of pay. I'd probably even teach kindergarten.

About a month ago I started getting emails in response to my ad on Dave's. One of the responses looked like it was from Poly Bundang. It was actually a recruiter, but the note was so disguised that I wasn't certain until I went over there on an appointment and the staff said they knew nothing about it, and I was ESCORTED OUT - they wouldn't even talk to me! Later the recruiter sent me a very nasty email and when I tried to respond I found out that my email address was blocked by them. Very strange! I would NEVER work there! |
That is very strange, because POLY doesn't use recruiters to find their teachers.
BTW, I know a teacher who works at POLY Bundang and says it's great.

Pardon me for contradicting you, but I know for a fact that Poly DOES use recruiters. I turned down the Poly Bundang position through a recruiter, just two weeks ago. Phone interview went well, but I decided on other things. |

Me thinks somebody has been trying to drum up a lot of angst against this place. |

Worked for a Poly for two years. Summary:
Lotsa work, lotsa money.
The textbooks can be kinda frustrating to teach sometimes, as they are all regular North American elementary books, but the kids' levels tend to be a bit higher as well... The returnee kids are often quite fun to work with, unless they also have a returnee attitude (but those can be fun, too).
I'd say it's definitely not an awful place to work, but if you'd prefer less nose-to-the-grindstone type gigs, you'd be WAAAAAAY better off taking a a job with less money and less hours- you'll find the stress and fatigue just not worth the extra cash if you're not an energy machine. Two years definitely had me burnt the hell out, but I still have a generally good impression of 'em. |

POLY BUNDANG
POLY BUNDANG
POLY BUNDANG
Im sure that other Polys may smell like roses, But im not concerend with the other POLY's I know the drill, i know the routine of the school, its hard, its long hours. Its not the others, or all of them collectively tat interests me.
Im talking specifically about POLY BUNDANG. STories, what youve heard, interviewees. Ive been told that the director is so bad that most should know in the first MINUTE that this is not going to be too enjoyable of a place to work. SO far one guy has stood up for the school for his freind.
I do know from first hand accounts that this school has ists issues, im wondering how many out there can verify the claim, or refute it. |

Not my friend exactly; she's a certified teacher who has taught in Korea for a while.
