Hi,

My girlfriend and I are new to the whole english teaching thing and we were wondering if anyone knows anything about these schools. I've searched the forums and didn't come up with much. I did see that someone had a bad experience with SISA Foreign Language Institute in Jeju, but that was it. Is the whole chain bad or just that branch? We've already had a bad experience with a job. We had agreed to take a job at what looked like a good school in Gimpo City, but we haven't heard back from them in two weeks after several attempts to contact them. We have taked at length with one of the teachers at Reading Town already and it seems quite good so far. We are waiting to hear from a teacher at SISA. Any reliable information or advice would be much appreciated.

Steve

SISA CHANGWON!!!!! - BIG NO!!!!!

So much crap goes down there, under pay, awful split shifts, multiple illegal work places.
the boss there is a liar...

Do not...i repeat do not work there.

Sticky this one Mods, as that place is a revolving door of a place.

I have known 5 people who have worked at this place....no one comes out of there happy.

I've had two teaching stints, one in Pusan, one in Seoul. This was in the days when hagwons generally did not back out of contracts.

Over the last year, and I'm NOT in Korea, I've had a school, Woosong University, actually reneg after sending me a SIGNED CONTRACT.

So, you're doing the right thing: Ask questions and be suspicous. Cool

Thank for the info and advice guys. We're trying to avoid recruiters if possible. We didn't like dealing with them the first time we were looking for a job. I think we'll probably decline SISA. It seems like finding a really reputable job for a couple might take some work.
